You Can Dance If You Want to

and leave your cares behind...
So last night we went to a fancy sit down dinner at Playa Mazatlan. It was right on the beach and the table side roasted skewers were terrific. Then in was time to balia(dance). we walked along the beach a few hundred yards to Valentino's. Three clubs in one castle like building on the ocean. It was too early though. It was 9:30, and nobody was there yet. So onto Senior Frogs, a short walk, or so we thought. We ended up walking about two miles before we HAD to stop for a beer. Then we were back on the walk of a lifetime, two more miles before we finially reached Senior Frogs. Along the walk it was crazy to see all the kids parked along the street drinking and hanging out. At Frogs we got to hang out with what again seemed to be 12 year olds drinking beer. We were over the sceen, and it was on to "da club". Valentino's was packed, and after a few Pacificos (2 for 20 pesos, or $2) and some Teqilla shots, I hit the floor with my wife in hand. Dancing to such local favorites as Oh Micky, & C.C. Music Factory. One of the biggest reactions of the night was for oyur favorite and mine, Man I Feel Like a Woman. Seriously, the guys were even singing along. JoAnna did at one point turn to me and said "You are so white now." So I bit my bottom lip, and started to do the cabage patch. Thanks honey.

So here we are, one day left, and we can't wait to come back, to Mazatlan. See you all soon! Adios!!!!

All of Mazatlan- and a no-no?

So yesterday we took a tour of old Mazatlan and new Mazatlan. Absolutly beautiful. They really have done a lot around here to fix things up. As with most forgien countries, everybody is very welcoming to Americans, too bad we aren't as accepting. We were able to visit an orpanage yesterday to drop off toys and other necessities to this church funded place. The kids were mostly in school but we did meet one girl who spent a year in S.F. learning English, and she was full of smiles as she talked in very good English.

After a nice time by the pool, it was off th see the local baseball team. What an event, and what a game! The place was about 90% full with about 5,000. The Vernados(deer?) got off to a nice 2 run first inning then the pitching took over. As they entered the 7th, the visitors had yet to get a hit. History was apon us. After getting the first out, the manager came to the mound and took out the starter to a corus of boos and whisles.
I have to mention that durring the entire game between every pitch the play music, and everybody dances to get on camera, especially the girls... The drinking age at the games must be 12, because every kid had there fill of $1.70 beer, yes, a Pacifico for $1.70!!! At a ball game!!! The food was amazingly good, and we barley tried it all. They also have chearleaders all over the stadium representing a varity of companies. Much like Jager girls in the states.
Back to the game. So after the pitching changes we entered the ninth, still no hits by the visitors. Pop fly to left for out # one. Then a shot to the right just off the tip of the second basemen's glove. Hit number one. :( Then back to back doubles and we were tied! In the bottom o fthe ninth, a single, and the Vernados big hitter steps to the dish. Bang! I deep one to left, back to the wall, Adios pelota!!! The kids in the stands rush the field to meet thier hero at home, and we all go home winners. One of the most exciting games I have ever seen.

I think we are upto 42 lizards now.

No Grasis

The most used words by tourist in Mexico, "No Grasis". Everywhere you go that's all you say to every vendor, time share rep, etc.

Since we last blogged, we had another good dinner, watched Mexico vs. Canada soccer, tie. Went to the beach with a bottle of wine and watched the waves crash on the shore under the moonlight.
While enjoying our quite time we saw two iguanas having sex in the sand!! Seriously, ask JoAnna SCHRUDDER, she'll tell you all about it.
We also saw a varmit of some sort running down the beach and into the trees. It was llike a muscrat or something.
Today we went to the beach ALL day. We participated in a painting session, and we now have our own guacamole bowl!
Then it was onto Boogie boarding for the first time for JoAnna. Despite the fish swimming close by, she had a great time and even made a new friend. Some 10 year old kid that wouldn't leave us (or maybe just her) alone.
We juat got back from the market with an 8 pack of Modelo Light, yes 8 packs here. Some Kahulla and cream for my lady. Tonight we stay in for the ALCS and movies.
Tomorrow we get our tour old Old Mazatlan, and a visit to the orpanage. Tomorrow night we go to a baseball game, and maybe finially find some tacos. Seriously, no tacos yet!

Iguanna count=27
Snake=1
Turtle=1

Sharing our "time"

So today we did the time share presentation. Free breakfast, after the tour. It was terrific, and we bought one! Can`t wait for you all to come with us, we got the presidential suite. Or not! It is a great deal as I`m sure you all know. The sister resort is great, and I hope we all go there soon.

Sidebar- My WIFE just walked in, and she really is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Where was I?

We struggled through the pitch, even the "just for you newly-weds one time only" crap. But sorry we didn`t buy....yet.
Then it was on to swim up bars. It`s nice to order a drink, and not have to get up to use the bathroom! (kidding, kind of...) Then like the song from 1992, Back to the Hotel. Now we are off to dinner!

We will update tomorrow, soory no pics yet, but you can be assured that we gots pleatnty coming!!!!!

For the record, 8 iguans, and counting!

Hola mi amigos!

We couldn`t have asked for a better trip! Despite the 13 hours we spent at the airports and on the planes getting here. We just fininshed our second sunset as a married couple, and it was amazing. I just wanted to thank you all again for being with us this weekend. We had an unbelivable time, and hope you all did as well. See yo soon!

Fly on the wall, the floor, the plane, the cab...

So we left Sacramento at 11:30pm 10/13, with just a little nap before we left. Arriving in Guatalaraha(?) at 5:00am. Miind you that is 250 miles PAST Mazatlan, we had 5 hours to kill. JoAnna Schrudder, was able to catch some Z´s, me, I fell out for a bit, then up and eager to go soon as I saw it was light outside. I still had 4 more hours til we left there.... On to Mexico City, still further away in miles. I have flown into LAX and seen how large and sprawling the city is, but Mexico City is HUGE! ou could see how seriously low income it is, but at the same time, just as arcatecturaly(?) amamzing it is for the rich. With little sleep we arrived in Mazatlan, unrested, but sooo awake. Maybe it was the policia, or the 90% humidity, but we were all smiles. (pics to folllow)

After arriving at the resort, we ran to our room, great view, and free drink tickets in hand, we ran to the bar. Margaritas, and nachos, then back to the room for an AMAZING sunset. (I took almost 100 pictures. Then onto dinner. We walked as far as we could before the flooded streets made a cab necessasary. On the recomendation of our father, we headed to the Shrimp Bucket. Way futher then we thought, but worth it. Mahi carpachio appitizer was followed by an amazing Shrimp Platter. 30 shimp, BBQ, peel and eat, grilled, coconut fried, battered, etc. After that I realized to me it was still Monday, but to the rest of Mexico, it was 10pm Tuesday, and back to the room. I started snooring before my head hit the pillow. And DAY 1 was over.

Weak Questions

1. What was more exciting NBA All Star Game or the Daytona 500?
2. What is your favorite Mike Bibby Sacramento Kings moment?
3. Which trade deadline move will be least effective?
4. Cupcake dunk or Superman not-really-a-dunk?
5. NBA final predictions?

Weak Thoughts-Personal Edition

This week with little sports (Garcia to Owens in the Pro Bowl does not count) of importance I thought I would focus on myself for you guys.

1. I made it seven days without smoking, except for two puffs of a cigar Friday night. Surprisingly after four days it hasn’t been too hard.
2. After one week of taxes I feel much more confident about my abilities. Anybody need a tax guy? Our prices are comparable to any other CPA. Remember I also can help with real estate too. Referrals would be greatly appreciated, and I really do know what I’m doing.
3. My sister is due to have her baby any day now. The Schrudder’s are all very excited. Too bad she’s going to be an Angels/Laker fan. With no NFL team in SoCal I do get to teach her the ways of the 9er.
4. Did anybody receive a Whisler Company newsletter? It’s my first edition, hope you like it, and feedback (good or bad is appreciated).
5. Not about me. Did anybody watch the Grammy’s last night? Best moment was Vince Gill. Kayne West had already won an award and spoke about “getting use to this” and “we run this show!” So after Vince won his award that Ringo Star presented he said, “Wow I just got an award handed to me by a Beetle.” He look s at Kayne and says, “Kayne, that ever happen to you?” Classic F’n classic.

I want more un-round ball

Weak Thoughts

  1. Did you see Martz call the reverse on the final play from the 5 yd line down by six in the senior bowl? I like his style!
  2. Is Al Davis a nut job or what? Some one should tell him he died a few years ago.
  3. Webber to the Warriors? There goes any chance of getting the 8th seed.
  4. Are you tired of the talk about Tom's ankle yet? Bootball Brady bigger than Joe Naimeth.
  5. Is it possible that this is the most anticipated Super Bowl since Farve Elway? I believe this will be the highest rated one to date, now let's just hope it lives up to the hype.

Two Weaks Off

1. So will Farve's last pass be a pick? I think not. See you next year 7-9 Farve.
2. Is Eli the next Peyton? I think not. Maybe the next Brad Johnson.
3. Will Moss be the MVP? I think not. That why even with records and all, he's no Jerry Rice.
4. Is Coughlin still on the hot seat? I think not. Somehow he has his team playing extremely well.
5. Will the Giants hot streak continue? I think not. Move over 85 Bears, 89 49ers, Pats 19-0, the best ever.

Final 4

1. In Green Bay the kindergartners learn to count 1, 2, 3, Farve, 5…
2. Giants late game pass rush is deadly, and they seem too confident that they will get a rematch against the Pats.
3. Nice Norv, way to screw up the NFL again. If LT is back I give them a chance, especially after the way last season ended.
4. The Jags made three bad plays all game and lost by two scores. Brady missed to passes that should have easily been caught.
5. So in my crystal ball I see what I have seen all year, a rematch of Favre’s only Super Bowl win. Will he ride off into the sunset? Or will all Montana/49er fans have to step down a pedestal and be known as the second best quarterback, and the second best dynasty ever. I will step aside, they are that good, only if they win it all. Go Favre…….
